FUND DRIVE 2023
Dear Neighbor,
West Trenton Volunteer Fire Company No.1 would like to thank you for your continued generous support over the years, as we continue to provide
faithful service to the citizens of Ewing Township. We are conducting our 2023 annual fund drive and are once again asking for your support. The
volume of emergency responses increases every year with the growth of our community as it continues to flourish with all the new building construction
in our district alone, we stand committed in providing you with the best professional service possible and will continue to do so. Last year we responded to over 700 calls for service. Whether it is a natural gas odor, smoke alarm, CO2 detector sounding off we are there to respond to the call. We train and prepare for all types of disasters requiring specialized training and equipment to handle any possible threat.
As our personal protective gear and equipment ages we are required to upgrade the equipment to state and federal standards to keep our volunteer firefighters safe and equipped to respond. We had significant fires within the township this year, the Silvia Street Condo Fire and the Senior Community Center, in both incidences our volunteers were at the locations for 8-12 hours plus. Due to inflation, the cost of our turn out gear, radios, repairs and maintenance made to older equipment is becoming more and more difficult to maintain. The COVID pandemic was extremely difficult on all of our responders and supplies such as specialized personal protective equipment, sanitizing and cleaning agents were purchased to keep our personnel safe and healthy so we can respond to your emergency and we also increased our Swiftwater Rescue Team with training and equipment as flooding becomes more common to our area which played a major role last year with Hurricane IDA and heavy rainfall. As we only receive partial funding from the township it does not cover the entire cost of the operation. We continue to solicit funding and hold fundraisers to help defray the costs associated with the response vehicles and equipment that responding to your emergency. We are grateful to have one of the largest ballrooms in Mercer County and able to offset some purchasing cost of protective equipment with Ballroom Rentals, over the past year. At the end of 2022 we decided to renovate the Ballroom to attract new renters to help defray the costs of the fire fighting equipment.
Ewing Township DOES NOT have a Fire Tax, as many of our neighboring communities DO, and we are asking for your help in providing for additional equipment and continued training for our firefighters. We are asking each neighbor to make a small donation of only $75.00 a year, to assist us in meeting our needs to help you in your time of an emergency. Your generous donation goes toward our day-to-day operations and the high cost to operate our equipment and maintenance of our building and grounds. We could not exist without your generosity. If you have some time to volunteer, we are always looking for dedicated citizens to expand our membership as there are multiple tasks needed within our organization such as firefighters, fire police or business members. Contact us if you are interested.
Thank you in advance for your generous donation.
Sincerely,
The Officers and Members of the West Trenton Volunteer Fire Company
